How Leveo's AI job search extension works

Plain answers to common questions about what the extension does, how it handles your data, and how to get started.

What does Leveo do?

Leveo is a Chrome extension that opens as a side panel in your browser. It tracks job applications through a pipeline with stages — Saved, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, and Closed. It scores your resume against job descriptions, generates personalized cover letters, drafts outreach messages, and shows which of your LinkedIn contacts work at companies you're targeting. All features run from the side panel while you browse job boards normally.

Which job boards does Leveo work on?

Leveo automatically extracts job data from LinkedIn job postings, Indeed job listings, Greenhouse career pages, and Lever career pages. On LinkedIn, it also reads profile data and message threads for the AI reply feature. On any other website, you can use the manual entry form to save a job to your pipeline by typing in the title, company, location, and description.

How does the job description analysis work?

When you save a job, Leveo sends your uploaded resume and the extracted job description to OpenAI's API through a secure backend server. The AI returns three things: a 0–100 fit score that lists specific strengths and gaps between your experience and the job requirements, a personalized cover letter that uses your real name and work history, and a rewritten version of your resume tailored to that specific role. All three results are saved to the job record so you can revisit them anytime.

How does the message drafting feature work?

There are three message tools. AI Reply lets you paste a LinkedIn message thread (or grab it from the page) and generates a tone-matched response — you choose professional, friendly, formal, or concise. Post Writer generates LinkedIn posts from a topic and tone you choose, with formatting tools for bold, italic, and emojis, plus a character counter. Message Templates let you create reusable outreach messages with fields like {name} and {company} that auto-fill when opened from a contact's page.

Does Leveo store my LinkedIn data?

Leveo only reads page data when you explicitly click "Grab from page." It does not run in the background, inject content into websites, or scrape data passively. When you grab a job or contact, the extracted data (title, company, description, or name and role) is stored in your personal database. Your resume is stored server-side for AI processing. Leveo never accesses your LinkedIn credentials — it reads the visible page content through Chrome's content script API. See our privacy policy for full details.

How is Leveo different from just using ChatGPT?

With ChatGPT, you have to copy and paste your resume and each job description every time you want analysis. Leveo stores your resume once, extracts job descriptions automatically from the page you're viewing, and keeps a persistent pipeline of all your applications. When you open the Career Advisor chat, it already has your resume, your pipeline, and the specific job loaded as context. Leveo also tracks contacts, matches them to companies in your pipeline, and auto-fills their names in outreach templates — none of which a standalone chat tool can do.

What is the Career Advisor?

The Career Advisor is a chat interface where the AI already has your resume, profile information, and pipeline summary loaded. If you open it from a specific job, that job's description is included too. You can ask about interview preparation, networking strategy, cold outreach wording, or LinkedIn profile optimization, and responses reference your actual experience and target roles. Conversation history is preserved within your session.

What is the Power Hour challenge?

Power Hour is a timed one-hour job search sprint. It sets three goals: reach out to 5 people, apply to 3 jobs, and write 1 LinkedIn post. A running timer tracks your progress as you mark each task complete. At the end, Leveo calculates a 0–100 score based on what you accomplished. Sessions reset daily so you can build a consistent habit.

How do I install Leveo?

Go to the Chrome Web Store listing and click "Add to Chrome." Sign in with your Google account. Then upload your resume (PDF or Word) in settings and optionally import your LinkedIn connections as a CSV file. The side panel opens from any tab by clicking the Leveo icon in your browser toolbar.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free plan includes every feature — pipeline tracking, contact CRM, network matching, CSV import, Power Hour, the post writer, and message templates — with no limits. The only restriction is 10 AI-powered actions (fit checks, cover letters, replies, and career advisor messages). The Pro plan at $14.99/month removes the AI usage cap and includes priority support.
